Caring for Our Caregivers
Worker-Ownership Is the Foundation of Our Success
In an industry where many caregivers have been treated as replaceable parts of a system, and caregiver burnout is chronic and growing, we are restoring humanity to caregivers.
We’re in the business of caring for our caregivers and it is working. Through our care delivery companies and our technology and services companies, we empower the caregivers that care for us all.
Our Work
Home-Based Healthcare
The movement to home-based healthcare will be the defining healthcare trend of the next quarter-century. This model of care harnesses the healing power of home. It recognizes that independence supports confidence and healthy aging, and it values the emotional comfort of aging-in-place as both a quality of life improver and a practical way to fight off dementia.
Senior population doubling
Care for patients in less costly care setting
Our Strategy
Personal Care
In an industry full of unsung heroes, personal care assistants (PCAs) and home health aides (HHAs) are near the top of the list. These caregivers help seniors and persons with disabilities stay safe at home by supporting household chores, personal care functions, like bathing and companionship, and health supports, like medication management and diabetes tracking.
PCAs and HHAs spend hundreds of hours a year with each of their clients, providing services that keep them happy and healthy at-home. However they are paid at- or near-minimum wage, upskilling is minimum, and they are often considered to not be a member of the care team that is responsible to keep clients healthy at-home.
Obran Health personal care aims to change this. We will empower PCAs and HHAs with ownership, training and the respect that comes from being included as a care team member. In this way we are creating higher performing agencies where we provide more value to our clients and our health partners.
Obran is expanding our personal care practice by acquiring and converting privately-held personal care agencies into worker-owned agencies. Our target size is a business doing $1-10M in revenue. Are you a caregiver, social entrepreneur or agency owner looking to sell? Join us!
Home Health & Hospice
The home health and hospice industries are being rocked by change. New payment models, new tracking requirements, exploding patient demand and in-kind exploding interest from strategic investors is taxing for agency operators. At the same time, none of these changes are solving the persistent employee & businesses challenges - stressful working conditions, little autonomy, a feeling of being out of control and high turnover rates.
Obran Health is bringing worker ownership to Home Health and Hospice by supporting experienced entrepreneurs who want to seize this moment of industry change, and the economic windfalls, to improve the work of home health and hospice caregivers. By keeping ownership local, opposed from outside strategics or investors, we can reinvest economic gains into the business in ways that will give caregivers back control, agency and delight in their work, all the while solving the challenge of retention.
